Another perspective – look up!

I don’t necessarily like starting the day, the blog, with a negative, and so here is a toast to the potential in all of us. This morning walking Loca through City Park, she suddenly looked up and I did too and there was a bird on a wire singing a beautiful song.

Last night at Meaux Bar, I had dinner with a friend and D waited on us and came over at one point incensed that one of her tables said she looked like a blonde Sarah Palin. We both looked at her and said “Oh horror!”

Meanwhile, from San Francisco to New Orleans, the “recession” hasn’t reared it’s ugly head. Last week in San Francisco, at Tadich Grill, the bartender said they have been packed and there are no signs of slowing. At Meaux Bar last night, Jim said, we’ve been busy, no signs of slowing. ALL GOOD NEWS and let’s hope to hell it continues.

Wall Street’s woes will be felt on Main Street, but the question is in New Orleans where we took a beating and the city still stumbles to come back to full operation and it is yet unknown whether we will fully recover, will we know there is a pinch when we’ve been caught in the squeeze shoot for three years running? Around here the saying is when you’re at the bottom, there is not a long way to fall.

Or as Oscar Wilde put it, “I may be lying in the gutter, but at least I’m looking up at the stars.”
