Summertime and the living is easy
Scientist predict the unusually hot summer that has hit New Orleans is here to stay till mid-century – thank god for air conditioning!
Last night, we headed to the Fair Grinds to see film clips from If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise called Pickin Up Da Pieces, starring Angie and her dog Roki and were treated to some good music from Angie and Gingerbread along with Monica and Joy. The film was another reminder of where we were and how far we have come. There was a guest appearance from Gingerbread’s daughter Marissa and her friend Jade. As Gingerbread said in her sing songy voice half way into the jam session to a packed house, “It’s getting hot in here.”
Nice crowd, soulful music, and lots of applause for Roki’s film debut.
We ended up outside of Swirl where Tin gobbled down two big slices of pepperoni pizza from Nonna Mia and I had a deliciously chilled glass of albariño before we strolled on home to the bayou.
Summertime, and the living is easy, at least around here it sure feels like it.
