The bayou from my window

The past couple of days I have been hobbling about, blessing the healthy body I have, and moaning about the dull ache in my foot from my surgery. Both of my knees have blisters and bruises from getting around on all fours for about three days. But the feet are improving and I have spent the past couple of mornings having breakfast at my dining room table looking out at the bayou. I wave to people – yesterday I waved to TL as he strolled by with his lean forward gait that has made him more recognizable to me from afar. B came by and did a whole mime routine asking if I need a ride somewhere, call him with anything, etc.

S has been walking Arlene but today N came by and took her with Renny for a walk. Arlene was pretty happy to be woken up with a big sloppy kiss from Renny. And she really enjoyed that walk. N says she will walk A every morning this week – so I’m sure the Bean will have something to look forward to in the mornings.

How blessed am I that since having this foot surgery I had a friend to bring me and pick me up, and have had a parade of people dropping by – S brought me muffins on Saturday morning, G has been dragging food into this house since the surgery, L brought Abby by for a snuggle visit, my neighbor gave me his wife’s phone number and said she is home and there if I need help. Mom came by and saw me on Sunday.

But the blessing is the bayou each morning and evening – as I open my shutters and close them – that bayou charms me. This morning around 7:15, a Great Egret spread its snowy white wings and glided across the water as I was sipping my Earl Grey. I thought WOW – someone pinch me – because what I just saw is too good to be true.

For this, for everything, I am blessed.
