K called tonight – normally wouldn’t take the call – but I did because I was working and not thinking and picked up the phone – conversation goes something like this:
K: what does your schedule look like tomorrow?
R: why?
K: well, we need to review the whole situation and I need to understand your expectations – I need to walk through it with you.
R: I’ll be there early but I’m tied up with work the rest of the day.
K: if we could just walk through…
R: Look I know you misunderstood me, but try to put yourself in my shoes – I learned today the painters want four times what I was told it would be, the glass manufacturer will not pay to repair the leaks in the three windows, and then that you misunderstood a key item on the list we agreed to. I just can’t articulate how I feel about this right now.
K: You’re an amazing person. You operate a level much higher than the rest of us.
R: Great.
K: Even the way you are handling this conversation is amazing. I mean…
R: I’ve got to go -[click].
