It’s all one big cluster fuck

Remember the windows on the addition – the ones that leak – remember they were manufactured and glazed in California. Now California says they aren’t responsible and won’t pay. Ken won’t pay for the restoration glass he has broken, or door he cut up. He now says he didn’t agree to putting screens on the porch just under the shower for the amount we agreed upon. Kim wasn’t responsible for her crew knocking out two panes of restoration glass that are now sadly replaced with new uninteresting glass. She wasn’t responsible for the bobcat running into the front porch. She wasn’t responsible nor was her framer for the entire back porch having to be redone. The insulation guy isn’t responsible for getting insulation all over the windows in the addition and on the metal roof. The roofer isn’t responsible for the fucked up pan he made for the big window. Michael wasn’t responsible for painting the office the wrong color even though he had a template that plainly stated what to do. The footings company isn’t responsible for doing a bogus job that we didn’t discover until Bud knocked one of the footings over accidentally by kicking it (thank god there wasn’t a building put onto of it). The plumber isn’t responsible for not running a pipe to the outside for the flash water heater.

Today the window mfg sends this sweet, thoughtful letter:

We have discussed your issue with the fixed windows and can’t see exactly what would be wrong with the windows themselves. On a fixed window there is little to go wrong with the window – lots can go wrong with the installation and weather seal of the opening. Leaks around a window are rarely a window problem.

While we are very sorry you are having to deal with this problem, we are not open to paying for work that was not authorized and overseen by us.

Thanks.

Lyn
