When we have these beautiful days I always say that if people thought the weather was like this all the time they’d all move here and New Orleans would suddenly suck because it would be filled with people who came here and didn’t adapt to what the city is but instead tried to make it what they wanted it to be. That is what happened in San Francisco – 1% of the people are from there and the other 99% are trying to tell people how to live there.
But we don’t really have to worry about that because this gorgeous, beautiful weather we are having right now, shall pass. And it will happen a day before Jazz Fest or maybe the day after. But it will pass into the summer heat we all know so well. But right now French Quarter Fest which is getting underway today is going to see record crowds because for one, it is unbelievably a great music venue with stages all across the French Quarter and talented musicians stepping over themselves and hey, it’s FREE, and so right before Jazz Fest is about to start the French Quarter Fest has become over the years a major draw and every year it is more and more crowded. But on a day like today when it is gorgeous – forgetaboutit – it will be nutty crowded.
For this reason, hot sticky summers don’t bother me, because they drive out the riff raff and only keep us scrappy, weather worthy folks around.
