LOVE COCKS

After the duck controversy (which is a woman put out a dozen Peking ducks into the bayou and built a ramp and feeds them thereby upsetting the balance of nature), the woman went on to put up a sign that said LOVE DUCKS on her front porch and solicited neighbors to do the same. My neighbor, who is much smarter and funnier, told me if I chose to put the peacocks I wanted on the bayou that I could put up a sign that says LOVE COCKS on my porch. We all got a couple of yucks out of that and dropped it.

Turns out the woman now has purchased a gigantic rooster who we hear Cock a Doodle Dooing round the clock. That’s right, it wasn’t enough to have nonnative ducks, now we have a Rooster. A friend told her that she could put a sign now that says LOVE COCKS as she heard the story of us on our side of the bayou. Only, it wasn’t funny anymore.

    (1) Animals. It shall be unlawful for the owner or keeper of any animal or fowl to allow frequent or continuing noise which disturbs a reasonable person of normal sensitivity.

    And:

Any person who violates section 66-203 shall be fined or imprisoned in accordance with the following:

    (1) First offense, $50.00.
    (2) Second offense, $150.00.
    (3) Third offense or subsequent violations shall result in a fine of $300.00 or imprisonment of not more than 90 days or both.
    (4) Notwithstanding any of the penalty provisions of this section, the owner or keeper of any animal or fowl found guilty of violating any provision of section 66-203 shall be required to enroll and attend animal or fowl obedience training classes sponsored by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or any other such competent authority.
    (Code 1956, § 42A-14)
