After the water, the truth

Last night, G called to come meet her and E for a cocktail at Wit’s End. E is in town to rehearse for a touring gig that is starting up – playing with some of the greatest musicians New Orleans has to offer right now. Our conversation turned to the many pieces of ourselves that outsiders pick up on that we have no idea we wear on our sleeves. For him, it was a remnant of his detachment that someone recognized in him recently. For G and me – that we have found a positive direction to overcome what we have faced in the last year. Specifically, he said to me that once the water receded, there was only truth waiting for me.

G has been telling me about E for a long time, but my only introduction has been to watch him play on stage, it was good to finally talk to the man in person – he’s a talented musician, and he possesses a kind (albeit: seeking) spirit.
