I was speaking to a friend of mine who met a woman with a baby four years ago. He still sees the woman and the baby is now a four year old little boy. He said he never intended to be a father. But he went on about how cute the little boy is and how he is like a grown up in ways. “When he falls down, I just tell him to get up and he does it, without crying.”
I said well maybe it’s okay to let him cry, if he hurts. He responded, “No, better to just take it.”
I wondered about men, about men raising men because I wonder about what if we have a little boy, and where we will find men to be role models. Is it wrong as a woman to believe that maybe it’s okay to raise a boy to feel pain, and to cry if it hurts?
Or do men teach men how to be men? And not hurt, not cry, to take it?
