I sat next to a woman on the plane from Los Angeles to Alburquerque – Anya. We talked about A to Z – a relationship to adoption string together of a lifetime and then she showed me a picture of her dog. She said they are too close. I said, well, I know that feeling. When you get more, that intimacy tends to be spread around and you are not as neurotic.
I picked up a Dog magazine at the airport as I waited for Tatjana and tried to find a wireless port at a Starbucks, a mall, the airport – anywhere where I might be able to work undistracted and send emails. Have you seen people who work in cafes and airports – how do they do it – I need the solitude of my office. Everything is a distraction.
Later, T showed me the photo of Missy – an abused dog. She was overfed then abandoned. Now she is so fat she is bursting out of her skin. The kennel is trying to get her in shape so she can be adopted.
I wondered aloud if I could go to the kennel to get rid of these ten pounds or the jelly roll I seem to have around my midline?
