These are excerpts from a poem collection that Bill Lavender put together – I just have notes, not the title, full poem or much less the names of the poets (Lorenzo Thomas, Ralph Adamo, someone Meyer – I didn’t keep the poets name with the note) – but these lines resonate – they are all from different poems:
A world where
the flaw
is as
prized as
the crystal’s
perfection
and I am dancing there.

The ground is still wet
in those woods.

Nothing of you can be said, much less written.
Outside of you I sound the few strings
my fingers can reach, as though I knew the song,
silence on the point of you not in me.
****
embrace new things
you are scattering
****
Bad women
Know good men
Are hard to find
And don’t believe
In working hard themselves
When girlfriends come around
Be careful what you tell
Don’t let anyone start counting
What you’ve got on your shelves
Good women get what they want
And the man that comes with it
Bad girls don’t want
For anything at all
