My neighbor was mowing the grass along the bayou yesterday and I went over to bail out the water in my canoe. When I got most of the water out, he came over and helped me haul it out and flip it over. The bottom is thick with barnacles. He said I had to scrape those off because it slows down the canoe. He also said that meant the bayou’s salinity was high. He’s a wealth of info of this nature – a biologist for the Fish & Wildlife.
