I was watching all of these brand marketers here at the conference talk about wanting the agencies who work for them to be excited, jazzed, enthused about their products. One said he saw an agency person drinking wine instead of one of their beers at a party and chastised the person. Another said I want to know that they are as excited about our product as we are.
How do you get up every morning and go to a job that does not inspire you? I dunno. I’ve watched people around me pursue their careers and be successful but never in the way that the masses would judge them so – architects, painters, singers, entrepreneurs, and writers – all fighting the good fight every day – to pursue what turns them on, what inspires them.
I think of my own work – with media – it’s a catch 22 – you know that media corrupts but yet you know it has the power to heal – it’s the power of the message that always inspires me, most times not the message itself.
