It’s getting serious

40 miles this morning on the bike as we get ready for this MS ride – which will be 150 miles. By the end, with the sun high up in the sky, I was starting to feel it. All us girls headed to Russell’s Marina Grill afterwards and rewarded ourself with an onion mum (home of, no less) and a seabreeze (made with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice) and eggs Ponchartrain (like Benedict except with a fried green tomato). By the time that was over, I was ready for a nap.

Last night, G said I am two daquiris away from becoming a Lesbian – ha! – it’s great to know they want me on their team – but I’m a free agent right now and I’m not looking for a change. My neighbor R saw me getting in the boat with the girls and he told me later about the Lesbians who live around the corner who have a boat name Lickety Split. Everyone’s a comedian these days.

After Russell’s, we went to see M’s house – she lives in Gentilly – such a sad site right now. Houses upon houses still sitting vacant. She demolished hers and built a new one out of a steel frame up about 8 feet from the ground. It looks kind of weird, but no weirder than all the brick on slab houses that are sitting there rotting.
