A rash to boot

I woke this morning with a rash on the side of my face and neck – a nice mottle of red welts. Who knows? Perhaps this is the beginning of the end. Hard to tell.

Meanwhile, I ran into a guy who did work on my house when I was under House Arrest Distress working on the LaLa. He was so thin I almost didn’t recognize him as he was this big beefy guy who I had a little bit of a crush on, and he had one on me too (wink wink). I said, “Wow you lost so much weight,” and he said, “Yeah, I have cancer.”

So he began to tell his story. He gave up drinking three years ago and he says everything has happened since then. He had Hep C, which has cleared his body. Now he has prostate cancer, early stages. He then gave up meat and has become a vegetarian. He said sugar is cancer’s best friend, so he avoids anything that even remotely resembles a simple carb. He feels good but he said without alcohol, red meat, and dessert, and he gave up smoking too, he is not sure who he is anymore.

I didn’t want to stand there at almost 53 years old with this man who used to make me squirm a little on the inside and start listing out my post menopause ailments and the rash of unknown origin or even the recent baldness. I gave him a big hug and moved along.
