Home sweet home

We lay my mother to rest in Franklinton in the family cemetery, near the dairy farm by my grandparents’ old house on Thigpen Road, near her older brother Dale, and his youngest son Carey, and right in line with my Mama Mae. Patsy’s home at last. I vowed to mom when she was alive that I would speak at her funeral service but I went to sleep on Tuesday night and woke Wednesday morning dreading…

Time for renewal

December 02, 2009 Taurus (4/20-5/20) You’re having a very difficult time making up your mind about what you want to do next. You may find yourself taking long, aimless walks, or spending long periods of time standing still while contemplating your next move. The best thing you can do is get off to one side and let everyone else who’s in a rush go by you. Luckily, you should be much more decisive tomorrow — maybe…

Patsy’s Pet Paradox

Waking up from a fog

Mother died today, or was it yesterday? My mother was quite a character, a sort of…

It was the best of times and the worst of times

I was speaking to a colleague the other day about living in New York and he said New York is a place where when things are going well they are hyper well and when things suck they super suck. I arrived in New York this afternoon on a wave of melancholy – seeing my mom on Sunday looking almost not human just sank my heart to the ground. This evening I wandered into at an…

Relax on the beach

We stayed for the third time in Ft. Morgan because the beach is sparsely populated despite a lot of development and the dogs are allowed on the beach to romp and play. This is the second time we rented from RelaxOnTheBeach that a friend had recommended to us a while back. I was just looking over Kevin’s website and he said something that has popped up in a lot of conversations I’ve been having about…
