Got news from L this morning that Zandi can’t go to the school – recall Zandi is the little South African girl I sort of adopted to help her go to the good school. L had told me that Zandi would be able to attend the Waldorf school in Zenzelani and I had my company match my donation to even give extra support for her to do so. It turns out that the social worker there broke her promise and now Zandi has to go to the free public school.
AGH! It’s so frustrating that bureaucracy is affecting this child who can’t act or speak for herself. Makes me crazy. I’m hoping something can still be done, but I know the people there – L and others – are fighting in the best interest of these children – but still, it is so hard to be here and not be able to do anything but send money or wait to hear.
