Signs point to Go

Sometimes the city seems to be in some sort of languish mode – you know, moribund – this was its state pre-Katrina – after Katrina it’s sometimes a city on the verge of death or a city of the verge of rebirth – today it seemed to be rising like a Phoenix. A crew was putting up official street signs at the corner of Jeff Davis and Earhart. Another crew was working on the traffic light on the corner of Orleans and Moss. A few of the houses along the way through Fountainbleu – an area horribly hit by the flood – were gleaming with new paint and brand new glass in the windows.

And then there was that other sign of life – traffic – everywhere I went this morning traffic was there first. But instead of being frustrated, I took it as a positive sign of hustle bustle that might be returning to our fair city – or should I call it a town?
