There is going to be a march on City Hall to end violent crimes in the city on Thursday, January 11th. Everyone is meeting in front of the aquarium at 11:30AM and the crowd is expected to arrive at City Hall at noon. People are showing up at the Sound Cafe to make signs and listen to the Hot 8 band play – whose member Dinerral Shavers was recently found shot in his car – will be playing.
A MidCity coalition is marching from MidCity to City Hall to meet the other groups. A representative from each neighborhood will speak about specific issues that need to be addressed.
Mainly, everyone is calling for the resignation of Warren Riley. And accountability by Ray Nagin. And community action by the NOPD.
