The best of New Orleans
We went around the Quarter today, just hunting for a place that could take the tourist and local favorite place of Cafe du Monde but alas – foiled again – it and every other place in New Orleans was closed for Christmas.
Jews seeking out Chinese restaurants is an old stereotype but it’s actually true – there is no place to go on Christmas.
The Roosevelt was decked out with lights and trees and we also went to check the much talked about Fulton Street fair but found that there was not much to entice us – and then into the Quarter where the world of leisurely finding a place to have a drink and a snack soon turned into a fantasy. Even the perpetual Christmas store on Decatur was closed because it is Christmas.
