A time to forgive and a time to not

I told E last night that I have been thinking I need to forgive N and move on from anger. She said, no, you don’t. Kind of took me aback. She said you don’t need to forgive N to move on and you don’t have to forgive him at all. I thought that sounded like a better strategy – let’s remember I wasn’t raised in the turn your cheek religion, mine was Solomon’s court – eye for an eye variety. Still I am getting sick of lugging this anger around because it gets sprinkled around my days and shows up uninvited to a lot of what I am doing. But knowing that I don’t have to forgive and can move on from that point gives a whole new clarity to how to proceed. I’m down with that.
