I woke up 50 or rather was awakened by a phone call to my cell phone at 12:30AM from mom who left a message saying “You’ve finally arrived at your life. Enjoy!” Then I rolled over and went back to sleep and woke before dawn, in the arms of my lover.
We greeted the day with birthday cards from Wolfie, Loca, Bam Bam, T and Arlene, who said she is not in dog heaven, au contraire, she is in outer space and prefers it to the banality of heaven.
My baby gave me an awesome Janus 50 collection of classic films. Amazing. Wow, big whopping wow. I know what we will be doing for a while. Cuddling on the couch and catching up on my film education.
I walked over to the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park, to the sculpture garden, and did yoga in the grass with about 30 others who had come out on this fine morning to be one with nature, one with their bodies, one with the universe.
The message this morning was to look inside and ask what is my purpose and if possible to think about helping others, even if by just offering a smile. I like that.
I don’t know about you, but 50 is off to an amazing start.
Namaste.
