Jill Soloway’s book “Tiny Ladies in Shiny Pants” is hysterical – she talks about her affinity for what she refers to as “Toolbelts” and “that pillow-show shit is one of the my Top Ten Most Hated Things in the World.” That is when people decorate their beds with five deep rows of assorted pillows. Really I am not getting any sleep wtih this book around. There are, like my friend SuSu suggested, many commonalities with me and Jill and one is her Toolbelt fetish – construction workers, bartenders, message boys – “The main difference between these men and your high-class advanced degree guys is that, without being told, they make everything their responsibility, from changing light bulbs to basic automobile maintenance to everyone’s orgasms.” The difference is palpable and organic. She calls it “Smart Woman. Dumb Pussy.” Whatever. When G told me she was afflicted too, I realized my condition was not something to be overcome but maybe to be indulged.
