I have thus far been able to manage my first day back at work by taking ten minutes between actions to breathe and pee. But of all the things that I am taking note of the large picture ones are this – my mother’s health and mind are deteriorating (this was glaring on re-entry), Arlene’s aging process is accelerating rapidly, my good friend’s daughter is possibly terminally ill, my other friend’s mother is as well – with all of the wonderful blessings that I have found in life, I want to remember what my friend whose dear mother is passing said, “Yesterday’s history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift.”
