A friend of T’s had been over the house and was walking through and when we got to my office and were standing on the terrace looking at the stars, he said, there is something about this house that reminds me of Sea Ranch. I was taken aback but told him that Steve had worked Esherick’s office, that had been part of the Sea Ranch project, and so maybe there was a similar aesthetic. In speaking to Steve, we were wondering what came first – did he absorb Esherick’s design sensibility or did he have it when he sought out that firm? Either way, it was a tremendous compliment to the LaLa’s design and it does, as every passerby says, deserve to be featured in Dwell Magazine and then some.
