We rode our bikes up and down the lakefront this morning in the punishing wind. And at breakfast I was admiring K’s ring and asked to try it on. She said it’s her magic ring. In Florida some years back she swam far out and while she was frolicking she lost it and she and L looked for it and couldn’t find it so she said “I let it go.” And suddenly L found the ring with her toe in the sand. So my friend calls it her magic ring. And I said there is a lot to learn from letting it go. Sometimes you concentrate and focus and dwell on something for so long that you lose perspective – but once you let it go – you are able to appreciate it for what it is, rather than for what you want it to be.
