Luck, Money and Sweetness

New Year’s evening I made a pot of black eye peas, cabbage (with a dime in it for luck), green onion sausage from Terranova, cornbread and B&K, E&E, J, and C all came over to eat. We opened some delicious wines and in the middle of eating the prodigal child arrived at the front door – G – so the family was all together and clasped hands and said thanks for our bounty and then we dug in. I looked around the table and told them all that they helped make ushering in the New Year one of the best times of my life and I love them one and all. Later I got a message from my mom who was supposed to come over and didn’t that she was feeling lonely and missed being at the LaLa. I don’t blame her – it’s a pretty damn special place overflowing with joie de vivre and good friends and love (not to mention delicious food and lively spirits – and the music’s not bad either).

Make no mistake I lead a charmed life.
