It’s the abundance here that makes me uneasy

Here in San Francisco is a cornucopia of bright white light, brand spanking new architecture (from hip to hop), clothes, shoes, wine, cheese, olives, coffee, old and new stuff, pulchritude, food, ethnicities, things to do, too hip to hop, too cool for school, abundance of abundance, Barneys, Gumps, Apple, shoes, boots, handsome men, stylish women, well bred dogs, well heeled kids, even roads, light, air, blue, white, small, large, and XXL.

I pass Cafe Mozart – memories flood, I pass a saxophonist in the street playing “As Time Goes By” – I drop a dollar in his box – I hold back tears and think about all that could be, was, could have been, might be later, and all I can say is I’m done.

I’m all about today and tomorrow – I have no yesterdays to put in context – they are all a jumble of sadness and longing and loving and lusting and consuming and craving and sating and exhausting and tempting – done.
