Seeing into the future

I took a break today and for about five minutes I stared aimlessly out my front window at the grey colored bayou – it’s been raining here a lot – and I thought about all the options that lay ahead for me – I could sell the LaLa and move to Mexico, I could move to Turkey and manage a dance club, I could move to New York and work on Wall Street, or I could stay here in New Orleans, sell my house, and rent a studio apartment in the French Quarter where I could write fiction again and wait tables at night. Or I could keep the LaLa and start a business – open a restaurant with Fatmalicious – and have apricot colored roses in vases on each clothed table.

So many options – it’s hard to know what the future might bring – but you can hold a day, or an hour, or a moment – and you can cherish that even as it is passing.
