There is a standing joke in the community that when Lesbians hook up they move in together by date three. One of the hallmarks I’ve noticed about the Lesbian community is that in general old girlfriends don’t go away, they get incorporated. Well it’s not that this doesn’t happen in the heterosexual world – my ex is still a close friend – but it’s also not like I’m taking trips or having a standing Sunday dinner with him and his new squeeze and anyone I’m seeing. But with a lot of Lesbians, I’ve noticed that it is hooking up for life, even if you change who you sleep with, the pecking order changes, but the association doesn’t.
