There is an article today about how Katie Couric’s ratings are not doing so well and that the new leadership is pushing for a conventional heavy hitting newsroom while Katie said that is not what she signed up for. In the same space of words is an article saying nearly 220 people died in Iraq this weekend. Wow, if 220 people died in New Orleans it would register on the richter scale for us in this community. Why isn’t Katie going on and putting a face with a name and backstory to connect those dead with viewers, who watch and read with greater apathy than ever before.
Katie, my advice to you, is to stand out – do something different – or let the big boys keep on keeping on.
