I’ve been talking to K lately because I called her after hearing she was back in town and so she came to my dinner party and I’m going to her dinner party – and well, we just kind of hit it off. I remember being at TL’s Jazz Fest party in ’06, which is where I met L, man of mystery, and he said: “You don’t know Downtown KB, everyone knows her.” And that stuck with me. Anyway, she called this morning and had me laughing because she said in Vail the ratio of men to women is 20 to 1 and when you walk in a bar, you have to not make eye contact or else you’ll be followed around the rest of the night. Ha. Here in New Orleans, the ratio is the opposite there are 50 great women for every one man – we’re kind of like the inverse of Alaska.
But here were her pearly words of wisdom this morning – she said a friend had told her a while back to “be the person you want to date.” And she added, you and G are already that person, but it’s possible there are no male equivalents or there are few here in this city.
