Eye candy for mama

Slept like a bear last night and woke still groggy from a food and alcohol hangover that went on for two days. Walking the Bean around the bayou, who comes running up, even though we’re later than normal, is the Bayou Stone Fox. Big smile, big dimples. I told Arlene when she turned to watch him go by – I said now now, Bean, he is eye candy for your mama not for you.

Ushering in the New Year

Usher sings in his song – “we want a lady in the street, but a freak in the bed that say…yeah yeah.” There is a website that interprets rap lyrics and about that one it says – A favorable female acts like a high-class woman in public, yet in private is quite sensual. I love the formality of rap lyric deconstruction. I want that job. Meanwhile, I was speaking to a friend about a mutual…

Be 4 Real

At some point after midnight on NYE I found myself in the bathroom with another girl who was having a moment – a moment of insecurity which was leading to tears – of course, I started crying too because that is what I do – you puke, I puke, you laugh, I laugh, you cry, I’m balling my eyes out – it’s like a gag reflex of emotions – she was crying because she can’t…

2007 feels – so far – like heaven

Last night, the champagne was flowing and the table was spilling over with scrumptious food – ham biscuits, beef stroganoff, brownies – on the stereo there was awesome music to dance to – people to dance with – I’d say the only thing that was less than perfect was no kiss at midnight – made me pout – but really only for a few minutes – then G forced me to walk to her house…

It happened like this

Was the night before New Year’s Eve and everything was looking daunting – pouring pounding driving rain and Giovanni needed to go home (UPTOWN) – I had to go to Riverridge for my way older brother’s birthday celebration – G was going out on a date – then everything started going sideways, even the rain – and the streets filled with water – G’s date cancelled because of too much rain! My niece called to…

Dead again

Early this week a rat died near the LaLa. The neighbor told Giovanni it was my rat and he should dispose of it. MY RAT? Come to think of it, I do have a rat name Nick, but I thought he left because I hadn’t seen him in a while. So was it Nick the Rat that died? And why is it my rat? It was in the driveway – THEIR PRECIOUS DRIVEWAY – that’s…

Dawn till Dusk whining

I went to the LaLa at dawn after waking up at 4:30AM, then went to Pilates, and then back to the LaLa where I worked on that house from dawn till dusk. My achy breaky muscles are in need of a deep tissue massage. Here’s some things – Giovanni was there working with me all day – painting doors and mudding cracks. He is from El Salvador. He told me Ken is a numbnut (not…

Alligator spotting

J told me she heard there was an alligator spotting again in the bayou. I told her I’m never quite sure if these are true or not. Today the Parkview newsletter said there was a five-foot alligator spotted near the Jeff Davis end of the Bayou (where the Can is – which btw is having it’s 100 year anniversary in 2007) – the alligator was partially wrapped with duct tape. (Holiday wear?)
