I would like to believe that Obama made history today as the first black man to be nominated and that Hillary lost the nomination because she represented corrupt politics while Obama represents a vision of change. That is the way I see it rather than we’ll take a black man over a woman (which I heard in passing at the airport).
My neighbors blew up a baby pool in the backyard and all we hear are squeals. I passed a house with three little kids in a baby pool and the mother was hosing them and the man who happened to pass by – again squeals. In New Orleans, when the heat index is waxing, there is only one thing we covet and that is a pool. Pool envy runs deep.

I’m almost anxious about thinking about being away from work – for 8 years (total 13) I’ve been so plugged in (even during Katrina when my cell and computer kept me working) to this work that the thought of stepping away for a four week period is unnerving.
