An exemplary life

We went to lunch at Restaurant August for our two year anniversary today. Delicious. But we had an encounter with a young, very attractive man, who said that he was so thankful to see us, in love, celebrating our anniversary, as he said “I am a homosexual and I want nothing more than what you both have. To love and be loved.” Need I say more.

Loca’s missing joie de vivre

Ever since Tin appeared and Wolfie disappeared, Loca has been acting strange. We thought she was grieving Wolfie even though she never really Loved Wolfie, she just tolerated her. And even Bam Bam has been over affectionate but we figure he is a caculating bastard who thinks if animals can disappear so quickly I might as well suck up. But Loca has been dispassionate. She interjects herself physically where she can because she is a…

Beggars of info

We received reams of medical data on the birth mother and Tin today and basically the only take aways were that Tin was born at 1:45 PM on 3/5/09, which gives our Pisces a Cancer rising sign which means he will have nostalgia for the past. But don’t a lot of adopted children pine for what they don’t know – like what if I hadn’t been adopted then would I feel differently now. It’s always…

Always drama

Last night when we had put Tin to bed, I had tears in my eyes as I told Tatjana that I’m not getting enough of him. I insisted that I needed some mornings where I woke him up and gave him his bottle and so today was that day. I went in there so delighted to see him first thing in the morning and I scooped him up and sat with him as he is…

The world won’t get no better if we just let it be

I was listening to NPR on my way to the pharmacy to pick up more ear medicine for Tin and they were talking about Obama lifting the don’t ask, don’t tell from the military. So one guy interviewed said, “It’s a big mistake, because people are not going to trust. You are out on the battlefield and you have to trust and if this happens, no one’s going to trust.” [SAY WHAT?] Then outside Hooters…

More horse images

My brother just wrote me reminding me he used to ride a horse in Endymion. What’s weird is that I heard from someone that the phenomenon of these groups of people who camp out in Midcity for the Endymion parade and basically take over the hood is not a recent one, these aliens have been coming for many years according to an old timer in the hood. Very strange crowd.

Are you ready for this?

Friday is our two year anniversary. Saturday is a playdate with Tin and friends who adopted two little girls. Saturday at 5:30 is the TRex parade that starts at Bacchanal where the floats are shoeboxes and the throws are wee wee miniature hand-made items. Sunday at 1PM is the Krewe of Barkus in the French Quarter and do I have to tell you what happens at 5:20? The Super Bowl of Super Bowls. There is…

Who dat in your underwear!

I ran out to get my mammogram and while my right breast was agonizingly squeezed into a machine press, the technician said, “Who dat!” And I laughed. “Who dat indeed.” She said, “We have never won a coin toss, ever, but we won that one, huh?” Thought bubble: I’ll answer only if you release my right breast.

They’re trying to wash us away

Yesterday, the gardener who has been helping me remove all my beloved but now frozen and dead plants told me he might come back today. Might, he said, because they think it might rain. Might? Hell, if this is might rain, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. It’s been pouring since we got up this morning and I don’t mean rain like everyone else talks about rain, I’m talking monsoon rain like only New Orleans can…
