Ain’t no party like the Namer party

My niece and nephew picked me up from Alice Ann’s and we headed to the rehearsal dinner – but we got there early so since we had nothing else to do, my nephew turned up the radio and we all three got outside the car and started dancing on the grass. There is no doubt we know how to entertain ourselves.

Later at dinner – the family now having expanded two or three more layers – great nieces and nephews, new marriages, we all marvelled at how lucky we are to have this big family who loves to get together and have fun.

Well it’s fun – we’re fun – but there are still dark pockets. One in my clan continues to stand in judgment of the affair I had and has a problem even looking me in the eyes – her own fear that it could happen to her is what clouds her judgment or maybe she really does have an issue that some people you love make mistakes and she can’t seem to forgive me mine. I just hope she has a broader mind and heart when it comes to raising her own children.

We sang happy birthday to a bunch of us – but we also sang happy birthday to my brother who is in prison – pretty much for life. Then he called and we circulated the phone so that everyone would have a chance to say hi. It’s weird having someone you love away, in prison, for allegedly having committed a white collar crime – particularly in the business I’m in, people – CEOs and CFOs – lie, cheat, and steal every day, sometimes flagrantly.

On the way home, my niece and nephew were meeting their respective new paramours to go home and watch a movie – they wanted me to join them – but I came back to my high school friend’s house – to sleep, perchance to dream. Tomorrow we dance.
