All my tears

I glanced at a friend and fellow writer’s blog and saw the listing of readings in the city. I was still gestating the Letters to the Editor this morning where a woman said she got the mayor of Harahan to change from Happy Holidays to Merry Christmas – good grief – evolution is slow to come to New Orleans (really). And then I read on Google+ a post about what White Girls Say to Black…

Elephants

I dreamt last night of elephants in a much more complex narrative than I would even imagine I had inside my head. Why was I in India, with a man, who was angry at me, and who booked two rooms for us in Vietnam because he didn’t want to be in the same room, and yet there were elephants large and humungous and small baby elephants slogging through the almost liquid mud everywhere and there…

Old man winter

We have had the luxury of an extended summer into a warmish fall here in New Orleans. Up until Jan 2nd we’ve been running around in tee shirts and enjoying the great outdoors. That changed. Tin just told his stuffed alligator named Rvan that he has three more minutes then it’s time for sleep. Me – I was ready for sleep three minutes…

It’s getting too close

I ate gingerbread sent to me from Germany and received not one, but two ads for swimsuits that make you look thinner. I entered detox today from everything that is toxic and received an affirmation custom made from Wayne Dyer: AVOID LOW-ENERGY SUBSTANCES Alcohol, as well as all drugs (legal and otherwise), lowers your body’s energy level and weakens you. In addition, you’ll find that people with similar low energy show up in your life.…

At last the Bard of the Bayou appears

Tidings of Love ‘Twas the night before Christmas in Faubourg-St. John And not a creature was stirring, at home or beyond. The stockings that hung by the chimneys were frayed With thousands laid-off and the rest underpaid, And tucked into spots where they wouldn’t be taken Were cookies for Santa in case of a break-in. The kids dreamt of sugar plums dancing with stars, But the dreams of the grown-ups were really bizarre: The mayor…

I saw the light

I’ve been seeing red lately and so it is only fitting I saw the light and it was a GREEN one. This week begins my new career: http://greenlightglobalresearch.com/ And I’m also teaming up with some friends I have sorely missed at: http://blueshiftideas.com/ And last but not least, I’m living out one of my fantasies by being an innkeeper: http://www.vrbo.com/382487 Of course, there is the fourth thing I’m doing and that is being the mother of…
