A weekend of Birthday

Oh to turn three years old – all of the people you want to come, all the balloons and chocolate and instruments you want to appear at your party:

The theme this year is music – apparently Americans have a penchant for overdoing kid’s birthday parties and developing themes. Americana all the way baby. We had bid and won Ben Schenck for a kid’s singalong at the Waldorf’s Starry Night last year and so Ben came and entertained the crowd!

Then we ate Tin’s favorite meal – pasta pesto out in the gazebo that my neighbor had erected in the backyard in case it stormed (like it threatened to do but didn’t). And then we had cake. But that’s not all, next was the drum circle where everyone got to release their inner three year old thanks to Angie and Gingerbread.

Then as all the little kiddies oozed out of the sticky and messy Lala, the adult hanger ons stayed for a little after party – you have to have stamina to withstand the rise and fall of a 3-year-old birthday party and still be able to keep ticking.

At the end of the day we were able to wake Tin from his nap and give him our birthday present to him – a pocket trumpet.

Happy Birthday baby boy! (He slept with the trumpet last night)
