Adoption 101

Adoption is another miracle of life. Today, I was in Kroger getting Proseco and a balloon to celebrate the legality of Baby Leo and the woman who blew up the balloon proceeded to tell me her life story. She was adopted. In her teenage years she thought about looking up her biological parents as she was in the throes of angst but then never did it, because she said, she had fabulous parents. She said her daughter in law had been adopted as well and had a similar experience.

The rhetoric about adoption centers around the feeling of abandonment that a lot of folks say is part and parcel of adoption. But what if it isn’t? What if some adopted children don’t go through that angst and are accepting of how they came to be and how they came to be raised?

One of the things that I would tell anyone is to never be the victim in their own narrative. After all you hold the key to the character even if the plot line is out of your control.
