T minus 22 days

Woke up late this morning – 6:40 – and felt as if the day was already under way and I was late out the gate. So quickly got the dogs their breakfast and then got mine, remembering to sit down to eat it. Several people asked me last night how I was doing with Tatjana gone and I said, it’s unbearable. She makes me sit down to eat. I told my friend L that I…

Swirling girls

Went to Swirl tonight – a Tuesday night – haven’t been in a while. We passed the time catching up with those who have broken up, those who are joining the MS 150 bike ride, and those who are just on the periphery of it all. When I got home, J called to say that she has it from a good source that the whole cast of the L-Word is in town this weekend for…

If I had but one day, I’d live on the bayou

Ivette was standing on the bayou waiting for J to come out of the house and I walked out with Loca to say hi and admire the beautiful day. T minus 23 – the reasons why

When I was walking this morning I was thinking of the reasons why I love Tatjana – yesterday, it was because in the midst of everyone having a breakdown, she made me laugh (and those around me too). J said, “I love her because she’s so funny – who knew?” But this morning, I was thinking about why I love her and what came first to me is her enthusiasm for life as well as…

And so it is

Today is the first day of first quarter earning season and yes, it is up and running towards the bell time. Loca and I took a long walk this morning as we were out of bed by 5:22 sans T’s warm body lying beside me to keep me still. There was a chain of puffy grey-white clouds on the horizon making the bayou seem glassier than ever and all of the colors richer in hue.…

Chris and Otter and Bacchanal

Fellow Wine Shop Owner Needs Support Chris Rudge, owner of Bacchanal, and his wife Otter from the Backyard Ballroom were involved in a terrible car accident early morning March 31. Chris suffered some broken bones and has had surgery, but will hopefully be home soon. Otter suffered more extensive injuries, including internal bleeding and is currently in a private room at University Hospital.  Many wonderful groups and individuals are coming together to help support Chris…

Who loves you baby?

You know what’s odd – a friend basically told me to quit my simpering since I found a GREAT love and that should be sufficient enough to get through the next part – the undulating separation: 24 days till she returns, then 29 days till I go there, then 31 days till she comes home – he’s right, what do I have to complain about? I have met the love of my life and in…
