We cooked my cousin Sophie’s brisket recipe today and lordy, it was a delicious Sunday meal, only I had cooked the potatoes, turnips and carrots way too long having accidentally left the stove on yesterday as we went to Magazine Street to get T’s hair cut and for T2 and I to wander around lower end of Magazine. While we were out and about yesterday, we stopped in to see GoGo’s new store, which looked great. And we also had a meal of gumbo and fries for Tin at Jackson, which is under new ownership. Next haircut we’ve decided we’ll check out Maya for its fusion tapas.
Jer came to have lunch with us and she brought sweet tea – a perfect accompaniment to Sunday supper of brisket and potatoes and rice and turnips and carrots and salad. Yum. (She brought cookies too but I limited myself to one.)
