Yesterday started on an emotional high to low note with the dog incident, who then was adopted by night fall! Then Tin’s playdate was fun but he was so tired afterwards that he slept passed his hour and his bottle was pushed late and Mommy was getting anxy because The Krewe of Tit Rex was rolling at 5:30 sharp starting at Bacchanal and at 5:25 pm I was putting polenta in is Tin’s little mouth. Gadzooks!
We got to Bacchanal and the parade had passed us by and I didn’t see the route so we went inside and instead friends were there and someone introduced to me to the wine guy from California who was pouring a wonderful bordeaux blend called Chasing Lions. Luckily, the friends I had come to meet who had walked from Uptown to the Bywater for two and a half hours to avoid leaving their parking place (it’s Mardi Gras after all), caught the parade down the street and captured most of it on their iPhone. They claimed it was the best parade they had seen in years – “So perfectly New Orleans!”
Tin was comfortably in his pouch on my chest, a mellow glass of bordeaux was in Mommy’s hand, friends around the table, we watched Tit Rex in all its glory as it paraded to Le Petit Mort (ahem), its theme this year, on a mobile device.
Not exactly where I was headed but exactly where I was.
