This from a neighbor: At 12:30 this morning, we were awakened to screams from a younger black woman from Gentilly who had been shot over 5 times and dumped out of a car at Esplanade & N Lopez.  She ran to a neighbors house, then fell on the street in shock. Beautifying the neighborhood

After Katrina, the dome of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church was covered in scaffolding for a few years while they repaired and refurbished the copper cupola. Loca’s lament

Loca has a penchant for eating plush toys – it’s her affliction – and she particularly loves her friend and neighbor, Lucky’s toys. We went to Britex in San Francisco, a fabulous fabric store in Union Square and got felt to fix both the rat and the bunny. Here they are in the recovery room.

Some places stay the same for the good

There are something like 800 (or some phenomenal number) new restaurants that start up in the Bay Area every year and fail. Luckily, some restaurants keep going. We went to Tra Vigne in St. Helena on Sunday and had house-made mozzarella that was still warm out of the oven and out of this world.
