Nothing to do but get in the pool
New friends just moved here from California, they called to say it’s hot! Um, well, yes, it is. There is only one remedy for heat – a pool.

My talented niece sends this from in front of Stonewall the night New York decided to allow gay marriage: WDSU gave Re-Bridge some air time on Saturday night, even though I have a correction – there has been structural work but not for over 50 years.
I am a wedding professional after being married three times, and I was reading about all the new versions of weddings where brides and grooms all over are mixing it up with gender bending twists on conventional protocol. I’m here to tell you that is so yesterday because in 1990 when I got married to Steve on Telegraph Hill, my maid of honor was my good friend, Doug Villepique. So all of this hoopla about…
Slang for a domineering woman is a battle-axe and the vehicle of choice for every battle-axe should be a Ford F150. I bought mine right after the Federal Flood and it helped me rebuild the LaLa, evacuate my family multiple times, and is the best utilitarian but luxury vehicle a woman could hope to own. Yes it is environmentally unsound, but remember I don’t drive it because I work from home and when I do…
There is an article in the NYT today that says Cheerios is the first food for toddlers – hello! Cheerios is not food. It is processed sugar and white flour – this is not food for anyone wanting to know. When Tin was a baby I saw a lot of mothers giving Cheerios so I went to buy some and read the ingredients with my mouth agape! Then I went to Whole Foods to buy…
The week has been a mondo build up to many different things – I’ve been remiss in really being able to think about blogging, think about life, think about anything other than the cards that were being dealt to me and oh what a hand I had – good lord! Well first, I had this big Kid’s Event that was designed to be an awareness building event for the Re-Bridge project and also to teach…
I said a year ago that within five years we would see same-sex marriage allowed in most states of the United States and with New York’s victory yesterday, I have to say we might be closer than I thought. The absurdity of not letting two people no matter what their make up get married is losing the veneer of rightness pretty quickly and I say to that, amen. It’s not like I’m rushing to get…
State Senator Stephen M. Saland, who had been publicly undecided, said Friday he would vote for gay marriage, giving the bill the support of 32 state senators, enough for passage. Say hello to equality United States – the Big Apple just got bitten! We are living in historic times – god bless you New York City and the Senate!
I got up last week and made a phone call that has changed my life and my direction. David Ogilvy, the media master, said, “Big ideas are usually simple ideas.” I had another phone call today that assured me I was not in a fantasy world. The world is about to change. Yes, indeed. June 24, 2011 TaurusĀ (4/20-5/20) It’s time for you to get back to thinking about the things that really matter in…
I drove by the Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School today or rather what is left of it. Obviously no amount of petitions could save it from being demolished in this city’s fervor to tear down the old and erect the new. You are not going to find many elevated steel truss buildings around New Orleans and certainly you are not going to build one today. So sad.
