Just a quick note to let you\u00a0know that I will return for one week between travels to be in town for\u00a0Satchmo SummerFest.\u00a0 I will perform Sunday, August 1 on the &#8220;Cornet\u00a0Chop Suey&#8221; stage at noon (Esplanade side of the Old U.S. Mint, closest\u00a0to the River). That night, I&#8217;ll host a special session at Chickie Wah\u00a0Wah (2828 Canal St.)&#8230; 7ish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 18.0px Arial; min-height: 21.0px;\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 18.0px Arial;\">I plan on re-starting the Mondays at Chickie Wah Wah in September, but\u00a0in the meantime, they&#8217;re still going strong with nightly music.\u00a0Please drop by on a Monday to hear my friends Raphael Bas and Pierre\u00a0Pichon and their &#8220;Gypsy Swing Band of New Orleans.&#8221;\u00a0 In my opinion,\u00a0this is the first and only group, in New Orleans, combining the\u00a0texture of Gypsy Jazz pioneered by Django Reinhardt with the seasoning\u00a0of New Orleans.\u00a0 Others seem to forget the importance of retaining\u00a0that New Orleans flair.
