David Carradine hung himself in a closet at the Bangkok Sofitel while filming a new movie today. I loved the Grasshopper! So sad. He was 72 years old. His television show, Kung Fu, like the Star Trek of old, was a great, inspired television series. I miss those kind. I think we’ve all become too jaded to experience them the say way we did then.

Some dialogue from Kung Fu:

“Deal with evil from strength, but affirm the good in man through trust. In this way, we are prepared for evil, but we encourage good.” — Master Kahn

“And is good a great reward for trusting?” — Young Caine (Grasshopper)

“In striving for an ideal, we do not seek rewards. Yet trust does sometimes bring with it a great reward, even greater than good.” — Master Kahn

“What is greater than good?” — Young Caine (Grasshopper)

“Love.” — Master Kahn

“And what is love?” — Young Caine (Grasshopper)

“Love is harmony, even in discord.” — Master Kahn

Other words of wisdom:

“Can a woman be happy alone?” — Caine (Grasshopper)

“To be alone, without one to love, is a waste of the body. To be not alone, without one to love, is a waste of the soul.” — Su Yen Lu, quoting her father

“Love born of betrayal is better lost than lived.” — Su Yen Lu, quoting her father
