When I first started going to my favorite wine store that will remain nameless, a friend of mine told me that is where the PPC hangs out, and now I have found out the god’s honest truth – the PPC doesn’t hang out there although they are known to show up every now and then. The PPC redefine Lipstick Lesbian and ratchet up the girl flourish by about 1000 – they are polar opposites of the flannel shirt contingency so well known in the Bay Area. Anyway, I used to refer to the place as a lesbian lair, which is what I named it when I first went in but you know what it’s not even that – it’s become a neighborhood place that is filled with a diverse crowd of people from all walks of life, genders, groups and subgroups. I wonder why it is that even within a group there is a desire to put labels on the sub-sub-group – butch, fem, Platinum Pussy Club, lipstick lesbian, androgynous, whatever.
