Two monks were once traveling together down a muddy road.
\nA heavy rain was falling. Coming around the bend,
\nthey met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash,
\nunable to cross the intersection.<\/p>\n
“Come on, girl,” said the first monk. Lifting her
\nin his arms, he carried her over the mud.<\/p>\n
The second monk did not speak again until that night
\nwhen they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer
\ncould restrain himself. “We monks don’t go near females,”
\nhe said. “It is dangerous. Why did you do that?”<\/p>\n
“I left the girl there,” the first monk said.
