Monday night was a sleepless night as the alarm went off in the middle of the night and as the service company sat on the phone with me, I walked through the dark house to check what door might have been opened. Then the system shorted out or something and wouldn’t reset so I got back in bed in a state of fright and remained that way throughout the evening. <\/p>\n
At 5AM yesterday I got up and went to work since I had to leave for Chicago early afternoon. I was so tired that after I dropped Arlene off at the kennel, I fell asleep in Blue in the parking lot at the airport. Sound asleep. So all I wanted to do was get on my direct flight and get in bed early to start the conference the next day.<\/p>\n
But no – flight cancelled – then alternate flight delayed – and then after falling asleep in countless uncomfortable chairs and finding myself in Dallas exhausted – I made my way to a massage chair and put in $5 and treated myself to a pretty rough massage that had passerbys staring at me like I was having an epileptic fit. <\/p>\n
Right before arriving at O’Hare the pilot came on and apologized for the delays citing thunderstorms and tornadic weather – in the airport as we made our way to baggage claim we came upon a surreal and almost performance art scenario where the entire enormous lobby was dark with cots of people lying under covers and guards positioned every 20 feet. <\/p>\n
Finally at 1:30AM, I was in a real bed in the Hyatt. I used to be such a good road warrior and these days, I’m weary just thinking about making my way back. So what’s a girl to do?
