A legacy in her own time

We went to Jazz Fest yesterday in particular to see Emmylou Harris. She was interviewed in the Allison Miner stage and then she played on Gentilly. She is so beautiful and sings like an angel. There were some people who felt like she wasn’t playing to the Fest – she wasn’t rocking out – but every song she played is a gem that I treasure and she has never played to any genre or style.…

Making fun – it’s what we do

For Krewe de Vieux it was all about making fun of Wall Street and the idiocy of large corporations who think they either make the world go round, or can destroy it. For Jazz Fest, it’s also about poking fun of the agoraphobia that Swine Flu headlines provoke. We ran into a friend yesterday, prepared to enjoy Jazz Fest, at any cost, and that meant with a mask.

Love Lives Here

It has become painfully obvious that we will have no front door for Jazz Fest (we like our houses to look good for the fest goers) and no front door for my birthday and so we have had to make do with tools everywhere in the side yard, a blocked side entrance and front entrance, and a screen porch with all sorts of tools and crap. You have to make the best of a situation…
